Many, many years ago, like before I was old enough to drive, my Dad had to have some cowl repair done (rusted out) by a shop a couple of towns over. Imagine my surprise at seeing Dad's car parked in the center of the town we lived in - this being several days after putting it in the shop - likely being used to chase parts for other jobs. Kind of wish I'd heard the ensuing conversation between my Dad and the shop, the actual job was rapidly completed, like expedited.

I really would have dragged that guy out of the car and left him there, and called the cops if he wouldn't relinquish my car.
If I were your dad, I would have jumped in it and drove home. Left the guy in a panic.
