Advertising! GM sucked at marketing this car. I bought a brand new one and GM told me nothing about the car. I happened to walk in to a dealer ship that had one while getting my oil changed. No commercials, no youtube videos, no Facebook ads nothing. I was tracking a C5 Corvette regularly. GM should have found some way to reach me.
The used car pricing books all know the MSRP started at $76,000 but was dropped to $50,000. You cannot look at the $76,000 number any more. Sorry for those who paid that. I have said before I got mine for $42,000 brand new off the show room floor.
I tried to buy the first one I saw but the dealer was asking $85,000. I am sure many other dealers made this mistake and over priced a car that had no market. The target market for the car was never told the car was made.
I did know about the Z51, Z07 and Z06 Corvettes. I knew all about those and was saving up for one. My plan was to get a new Z06 but I decided against it with the heating issues.
Ford told everyone about the Mustang. Ford only has the Mustang and no higher track car like the Corvette. So GM was competing with them self.
I know two guys who looked at the Z28 but bought Z06's.
