I almost wonder if the 2.7L is a diesel. It's showing up in the trucks as well as the Camaro. And as a diesel, it wouldn't have to rev very fast which would be a bit of a problem with a 4 cylinder that big.

The little I3 makes a certain amount of sense compared to the same size 4 cylinder. The engine can be made a lot lighter, and the parts are easier to share.
