Talking

So, I went to the auto show in Columbus today with a friend to check out all the recent and upcoming cars. He's a Mustang guy, so I waited patiently while he talked with the Ford representatives at the show, and he waited while I talked with the Chevrolet people about Camaros. The woman I spoke to showed me a Hot Wheels edition convertible 2SS. She was telling me all about it, specs, unique features, so I asked if the color would be made available for the 2014's, and she said no, it was limited to this special edition.

Then, I couldn't help myself, I looked at her with half squinted eyes and a sideways glance and said, "Okay, everything here from 2013 is great and all, the Hot Wheels edition, the ZL1, but what about these rumors of the Z28 making a comeback?" To be honest, I didn't expect anything of any substance to be said as an answer to that, but what I got as a response was surprising.

The girl looked away, took a deep breath, then smiled and said, "Well, there is nothing "official" that is being said as of yet about that. However, there are a lot of leftover LS7 power plants from the C6 Corvette program, a "leaked" vin sheet that seems to indicate as much might be in the works, plus the fact that the Gen 5 Camaros are getting closer to the end of their run, so it wouldn't and shouldn't be a surprise if the Z28 makes its return as an end of an era surprise for Camaro loyalists. There is talk of some big news as far as Camaro is concerned supposed to be revealed at the New York Auto show, which is only ten days away by the way, so the best I can say for now is simply Stay Tuned and Keep the Faith."

I was shocked to hear those exact phrases and wording at the end of what she had to say. I looked at her, probably with a half confused look on my face and said, "That's just the sort of speculation and things being said over on Camaro5.com, which is where I read up on all the latest Camaro news."

She just shrugged and said, "Never been to that site, I'll have to check that out." She then thanked me for stopping by the Chevy booth, and moved on to the next group that was looking at the Camaros.

I know this isn't anything beyond what we already knew, but the fact that Chevrolet had someone so knowledgeable about the cars even down to details like that regarding current rumors really impressed me. Not to mention specific phrasing like "Stay Tuned" and "Keep the Faith" just threw me for a loop. Maybe there is still some solid hope yet. What do you guys make of this? I was really surprised to get a response like that from a Chevy rep.
