Yep. If it gets a serious gouge or other damage to the white paint-wrapped portion, it would need to be replaced. Imagine pealing the entire section off that panel (door, fender, bumper) and laying down a new piece. In fact, the very first section they wrapped was the passenger door, and once they had learned more about working with the material they went back and re-did it with a new piece of material.
