From what I have found the LS9 is heavier but stronger.
I wanted lighter too but not small race type clutch so after much looking around and reading I just installed a stage 2 Diamond clutch kit with there billet steel flywheel, its 15 pounds lighter than the LS7 clutch combo and higher load rating than stock. I have not tried it yet as Ive not finished engine mods Im working on.
