The 3" Magnaflow Comp series isn't too loud. It is loud, but in a different way than the 2.5" comp series. The 3" system has more bass to its tone than actually being loud IMO. It is a great sounding exhaust system.
As for the tips aligning, I agree with others, its all in the install. Take your time and have a friend help you and you should have no problem getting them lined up properly.
