From what I was shown when my car was being tuned, there are a lot of options with the AMF. It does not have to be an all on or off option. I wanted to leave it on above 55mph to still take advantage of the increased gas mileage when I was cruising. The car is somewhat a daily driver for me. I do not know all of the ways the AMF can be adjusted but based on speed is one. It can also be made more or less sensitive. Someone that does tuning I am sure could give a more detailed explaination.
