I believe this is correct yes. Personally I haven't played this (nor will I), but from everything I've been reading about it you can.
With the 360 you can play online split-screen with two separate gamertags. However on the PS3 only one person can be signed into PSN while the other is forced into guest. This is what I referring to when I said the experience varies (aside from the performance discrepancies).
