MAF cleaner would clean oil off the sensor very well. Also the oil maybe from the VR filter that is oil based. Maybe but very rare you could of got some water on the filter some how and it sprayed your MAF with that oil. Also in my opinion I wouldn't pay a dealer $100+ for a carbon cleaning (aka seafoaming). It's easy to do and I have a write up here in this section.
