So, if you placed a pre-order & were approved by GM/Chevrolet reaching 3000 on or before 11/20/2011 & opted for the "exposed carbon fibre extractor hood element"... YOU will get your ZL1 equipped the way you wanted... that is unless you panicked & dropped that option in fear of losing that allocation to someone else. The ewCF will be a rare sight indeed on 2012 ZL1s...

It's a matter of supply vs demand; Chevy didn't anticipate this much demand. As I suspected, it's NOT a QC issue, but one of volume bids from subcontractors supplying this coveted parts assembly & their upping the ante. Something similar happened with a certain rear deck CAMARO spoiler that was on BO for two years as the search continued for cheaper sources.
