I dont think this is a repost if it is please let me know.... alot of this info is all ready out here, but this is condensed into one neat little package


Was a production Camaro the plan from the beginning?

No. Camaro production is a direct result of the overwhelming enthusiastic response to the Chevy Camaro concept at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.



Why is the Camaro taking so long to launch? Is it late?

Back in August 2006, GM announced that the all-new Camaro would go on sale in the first quarter of 2009. Nothing has changed. This is still the target date for production. GM is using this time frame to further develop its new global rear-wheel-drive architecture and fine-tune Camaro’s fuel-efficient powertrain, sophisticated chassis and contemporary design.



When will the Camaro coupe be available for sale to the public?

The Camaro coupe will be available for sale in the first quarter of 2009. Production is slated to begin in mid-February 2009.



Are vehicles like the Camaro coupe compatible with growing concerns about fuel economy?

GM offers a wide range of fuel-saving technologies. Chevrolet and GM are continuing to look for ways to improve fuel economy and offer the latest fuel-saving technologies. The Camaro coupe is being designed with fuel economy concerns in mind and will deliver better-than-expected fuel economy. Specific fuel economy data figures will be available closer to launch.



Are fuel economy numbers available?

Final fuel economy numbers are not yet available for Camaro coupe. Projected fuel economy numbers on the highway are 26 mpg for the V6 engine with automatic transmission and 23 mpg for the V8 engine with automatic transmission. Is there a rich heritage surrounding Camaro?

Since it roared to life in the fall of 1966 as a 1967 model, Camaro has given millions a taste of “performance -- American style,” with muscular V8s, great road-handling suspension components and uncompromised styling that really turns heads. What trim levels are available on Camaro coupe?

The Camaro coupe will be offered in five trim levels: LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS and 2SS. Be sure to visit the Product section for standard feature information.



What engines will be available?

Camaro coupe will house a standard 3.6L DI VVT V6 engine with projected 300 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is one of the most fuel-efficient offers in GM’s high-feature engine family. In addition, Camaro coupe will offer an available 6.2L V8 engine with projected 400 horsepower and 395 lb.-ft. of torque (automatic transmission) or projected 422 horsepower and 408 lb.-ft. of torque (manual transmission). What transmissions will be available?

A six-speed manual Aisin AY6 transmission is standard with the 3.6L DI VVT V6 engine. A Tremec® TR6060 manual transmission is standard with the 6.2L V8 engine. In addition, a Hydra-Matic® 6L50 or 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission is available with both the 3.6 DI VVT V6 and 6.2L V8.



What other performance features will be available on the Camaro coupe?

Camaro coupe incorporates a near 50/50 weight distribution for enhanced driving characteristics and a twin ball joint strut front suspension for precise handling. Camaro coupe also comes equipped with an independent rear suspension (a competitive advantage over solid axle) that is designed to handle its power. A variable rack-and-pinion steering system helps give Camaro coupe a sporty feel, while Brembo brakes with four piston calipers on the SS model provide racetrack stopping capability.



What’s unique about the exterior styling of Camaro coupe?

Camaro coupe carries the dimensions, presence and overall refinement indicative of a 21st Century sports car. A powerful stance gives it a dominating road presence. An aluminum hood with “power bulge” contributes to a strong look. Large available wheels and tires (up to 20 inches) sit very outboard and are flush with body surfaces for an agile appearance. Are there any special appearance packages available on Camaro coupe?

Camaro coupe will offer an RS Appearance Package that includes HID headlamps, spoiler on LT model, 5-spoke wheel with Midnight Silver paint finish, RS unique taillamps, body-color roof ditch molding and RS badging (front and rear). Camaro coupe will also offer an Interior Accent Package that includes a black interior with Inferno Orange accents on leather-appointed, heated seating surfaces. Inferno Orange stitching is also present on the steering wheel, shift knob, door armrest and center console. Inferno Orange appliqué is present on the instrument panel and door trim.



Is there anything unique about the interior styling of Camaro coupe?

Inside, Camaro coupe offers available four-pack gauges in the center console, a “deep- dish” thick grip, three-spoke steering wheel, available ambient lighting, contemporary graphics, oversized knobs with chrome detail and contemporary, comfortable seating. Design inspiration was drawn not only from the First Generation Camaro, but also various consumer products such as stylish cell phones, appliances and wristwatches.



What technology features are available with Camaro coupe?

Camaro coupe offers standard OnStar®, XM® Satellite Radio, StabiliTrak® Stability Control System with Traction Control and Competitive/Sport and Launch Control modes, and a USB port. Is a full-size spare tire available?

No. Camaro coupe will offer an optional mini spare tire on the LS and LT models only. A tire inflator kit is standard on all models. The tire inflator kit is a convenient way to fix a majority of potential tire problems. Camaro is lighter in weight with the inflator kit, resulting in increased performance and fuel economy and less noise/vibration.



What vehicles will the Camaro coupe compete against?

Customers interested in the Camaro coupe will also be shopping the Ford Mustang and the new 2008 Dodge Challenger. Challenger will be built off established RWD architecture, allowing it to start production earlier than Camaro. The Camaro production vehicle will be designed to hold a number of product advantages over this competition and will surely be able to hold its own against any high-performance competitor out there.



Where will the Camaro coupe be built?

Production will take place at our award-winning assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.



Has pricing been announced for the Camaro coupe?

The 2010 Camaro LS (base model) will carry a starting MSRP of $22,995, including Destination and Freight Charges (DFC) and excluding tax, title, registration and other dealer fees. The 2010 Camaro SS will carry a starting MSRP of $30,995, including Destination and Freight Charges (DFC) and excluding tax, title, registration and other dealer fees.

Will there be a production Camaro convertible?

Yes, there will be a production Camaro convertible. Timing is scheduled for the summer of 2010 as a 2011 model.



Are there any plans for a Z28 model?

Chevrolet is continuing to look at lifecycle enhancements for Camaro. Currently there is no announcement to be made on a Z28 model.



Why is SS the uplevel model for Camaro instead of Z28?

The SS trim level was chosen to place Camaro among the other flagship offerings in Chevy’s SS model lineup. Camaro SS will join Cobalt SS, HHR SS, and TrailBlazer SS in this high performance portfolio.



Are t-tops available as an option on Camaro coupe?

No. However, an express-open and venting sunroof will be available – a first-time application for Camaro.



Will there be a navigation system available on Camaro coupe?

No. There will not be a navigation screen option available on the Camaro. However, Camaro will offer Turn-by-Turn Navigation available through OnStar.



When will allocation and ordering information for Camaro coupe be available?

Allocation and specific ordering information will be released on October 13, 2008.



Is there a way to show customers the LPO's or accessories available on Camaro? The ground effects are one area that they cannot visualize.

You and your customer can jointly visit the Camaro Photo Gallery which displays various Camaro images (including the ground effects package). You can show these images to customers interested in ordering Camaro via your dealership computer. When will pricing information on the accessories or the LPO's be available? I have some customers who are holding back until they know a price on them.

The LPO pricing is available on the current price schedule available through GM Global Connect.



Are there any other car cover colors coming out, besides red?

Yes. The Camaro car cover will be available in red and silver.



Are all LPO accessories installed at the factory or through the dealership?

All LPO's are dealer installed. The benefit of the LPO's is that they appear on the window label.



What colors are available with the Interior Trim Package?

From the factory, the only interior accent trim package is the Inferno Orange Package; however, other trim packages - including yellow - is available from GM Accessories.



Is the only way to get the halo ring with the high intensity lights on the RS Appearance Package?

Yes, the RS Appearance Package is the only package that offers HID with the Halo Ring.



Is there a picture of the interior accent trim package available?

During the most recent IDL Broadcast, images of the Inferno Orange Interior and the various GM Accessories were shown. We would encourage dealers to view the IDL broadcast available on their GM Genesis training box so they can describe these features. You and your customer can also jointly visit the Camaro Photo Gallery which displays various Camaro images (including the Inferno Orange Interior). You can show these images to customers interested in ordering Camaro via your dealership computer. We are working on preparing broader description of the LPO packages. You and your customer can jointly visit the Camaro Photo Gallery which displays various Camaro images (including some accessories). We request that they not be printed or scanned and provided directly to a customer or posted on various websites outside of GM. What are the differences in the strip packages?

The rally stripes are dual stripes located on the hood and trunk. These stripes are available either as factory installed or as LPO/Dealer Installed Accessories. The other Dealer Installed Accessories are "hockey stripes" that run along the side of the car, and a single wide stripe on the power bulge of the hood.



Will you be sending the dealers a package of the Order Workbooks, and other literature that is available to download?

Point of sales materials including brochures and production information center updates will be provided closer to start of production. The materials you now have will not be provided in hard copy. If you are looking for material to provide to customers, please direct them to Chevy.com/Camaro for a Specification and Packaging Overview (a copy of which is available on Chevylaunch.com).



Is the Camaro going to be offered at G.M.S pricing?

We'll be making an announcement on our GMS plans closer to the start of production.



Also, are there any pictures available of the accent stitching package on the interior of this car?

Additional interior pictures will be made available closer to the start of production.



Can you please tell me if the exterior accent stripe package on the SS Camaro covers the hood, roof, and deck lid or what components?

The Rally Stripes are on the hood and trunk deck lid, but not on the roof.


On the 2SS with an automatic transmission, where will the TAPShift Switch(s) be located?

The TAPshift is located on the back of the steering wheel on both the left and right side of center spoke.



I have a customer who wants to order a White Camaro. With the color White being tentative for July production, what can I do to secure this order when White is not a color selection during the order process?

We are still a couple of months away from accepting orders with the White exterior color. We would suggest ordering the customer's vehicle in a different color, and then changing the exterior once White is released and available during the order process.



Will the automatic transmission be an additional charge over the manual transmission on the SS model?

Yes. The six-speed automatic transmission is an option priced between $995 and $1185 MSRP depending on model.
