Yet another muffler delete question!

So I took my 2010 m6 over to a local shop and asked if they would do a muffler delete for me, he said yes but then tried to sway me in the direction of instead of replacing the existing muffler with straight pipe, to insert an open muffler. He said without the muffler "it would sound blah" lol. Just wanted some opinions, yes i have listened to several muffler deletes on youtube and they sound great to me but im not sure and im a novice when it comes to modes. All opinions are welcome and if any of you have had the muffler delete done, how and what did you replace it with (type of pipe and how was it intalled). Thanks guys!
