1Jewldssrs isn't VVT, I don't think. I am vvt but stock at the moment. No I have no surge but I have driven in others with cams like yours and they had no surge.

Call GPI and they will tell you if it is normal for a VVT cam with your set up but I have heard of the cam surge you mean. All where because the tune wasn't 100%.
