This is the perfect thread for me to read after my dealer told me at 120,000km (about 75,000 miles) and 7.5 years that I should change the original battery on my 2013 1LT coupe. I'm in Vancouver, Canada so not the worst winters, I store it inside in a parking garage and it never goes more than a week not being driven.
Sounds like batteries do eventually need to get replaced although mine has never let me down. As a wiser fella than me said up-thread, doesn't matter much if it's just me in the car if it fails, but if it's the lady too... and if her father sees... oh, just couldn't do it!
