"The Camaro Z28 is going to be faster on a track then both the Corvette Grandsport, and the Corvette Z06. Normally we would be afraid of stepping on our own (Chevrolet) toes, but we at General Motors really don't care at the moment about what cars in our lineup are faster or slower. We just want the Z28 to be the fastest car possible for under 45 grand, and if that means building a faster car then our own Corvette brethren, so be it." - Chris Perry (VP of Chevrolet Marketing)

I found this posted not sure if its true or not.

But theres some pretty big claims there.
