They have to get new plates and everything.
They told me that they'd call me when it comes in and we can go over the car, take it for a drive to make sure it's running properly, fill out the paperwork (down payment, insurance, etc.)...and then they'd go to the registry for my new plates and registration the next day.
If you don't need new plates and stuff, you should be able to drive it home the same day.
