Most large municipalities like Dallas will let you mail in a letter with your citation number requesting either deferred disposition or a defensive driving course to expunge the ticket from your record.
Especially in a case where the municipality is not where you're from, it's easier to have it taken care of that way instead of trying to "fight" it.
