McKees37 makes great products, but that is probably expensive for what you get.

Here's what I do for my customers:
vacuum engine bay
clean with Meguiar's All Purpose cleaner and black microfiber towel
wipe the rubber with Duragloss 265 Ultimate Detail Spray
condition the plastic parts and trim with Mothers Back to Black

It is fine to spray a garden hose (no pressure) on any car engine made later than 1995. I use a hose if the engine is really bad.
