I've had 3 chances to learn to drive stick and 3 chances got "effed" over. The first attempt to teach me was done on a hill.....not the greatest spot for learners. The second time was in a Golf. Of course VW's gear layout is different so when I was trying to shift into 2nd I was accidentally going into 3rd and eventually stalling then I was on the highway shortly after that for and hour and half so it wasn't much of a challenge to be in 5th the whole time. The 3rd attempt and most recent was in my friend's Mazda Protege' Turbo....the stock shiftnob was from Sparko....no gear layout printed on top....and I was told the move the car up in his dad's farm house alone....no help...I eventually figured out I was in 2nd gear the whole time after stalling out 10 times in a row.
