You're on the right track with the Magnaflow resonated X pipe. That will kill the rasp and quiet down some. But they seem to make the exhaust note deeper too. I really like the resonated X behind headers and it's what I'm going to do as well.
Cats also kill the rasp some. But from the videos I've listened to...not as much as the resonated X. Doing both cats AND resonated X will take it to a whole other level.
Magnaflow resonated X = $100ish
High flow cats = $300ish
