Unlike the tempered side glass that shatters into a million pieces, the windshield is laminated glass. Has two pieces of glass with a plastic layer in between so if something breaks it won't end up in your lap like tempered glass would. A HUD windshield has a special light-redirecting optical film in the sandwich of glass.
