I disagree. On performance vehicles the best gas mileage will be made using the recomended octane. The car produces more power faster, allowing it to upshift and reach your desired speed easier and with less throttle.
Using an octane higher than necessary will have no affect unless you get a custom tune that advances the timing more than the factory programming.
And the compression ratio on the LS3 is 10.7:1

Robert is correct, running a higher octane fuel in a stock engine with a stock tune is a waste of $$$. The computer can not add timing, it can only take it out.
