Fast forward to February I started talking with Josh at GPI on cam kits and converters. Talked about several options and was on hold until I decided what to do.
A few weeks goes by and Ryan posts on the forum about new cam lobe designs which put the hook in front of my mouth.
Shortly after that the thread about new cam lobe designs turns into a group buy/special offer. Called and spoke with Ryan and the hook was set. Ordered GPI cam kit and Circle D converter. 10 days later the cam kit is in my hands and converter is in transit.
On 3/25/17 the NWA Camaro Club was having an cruise up to Mo-Kan drag strip for the day. I know this sounds odd, but thankfully it rained very hard the night before and the event was cancelled. I was looking forward to getting some more time slips before the cam/converter install.
Since the event was cancelled, we got started early on taking the engine apart. This is where I am glad the event was cancelled. After teardown and while cleaning the lifter bores I found some loose needle bearings and one of the trunnion retainers from a rocker. Went and looked at the rockers that were removed and found that two intake rockers had broken trunions on one side. So, where are the other needle bearings? Hopefully in the oil pan...
This was completely unexpected. Engine wasn't making any unusual noises at all. I hadn't planned on doing any rocker upgrades at all prior to this. What to do...

Pulled everything down to the block.
Removed the front fascia to for easier access to the engine bay & also to install the trans cooler.
