Limited slip differentials make use of friction between clutch plates. So i've thought the additive was there to provide some friction.
But oil adds say its there to reduce the chatter sometimes caused by the transfer of torque to the tire with traction, and some people say its there to allow the clutches to release when you come to a stop. Both those explainations sound like it decreases contact (friction) and would function like extra EP additives.
So, I don't know either. I sure wouldn't mind getting an opinion from some of these transmission experts....Anybody?
