You probably just didn't notice it before because the tires weren't that close to the fender. After a drop they get a lot closer and that made you notice it.

I agree... I will say with certainty that your car sits like all other ZL1's I have seen with these wheels. I have 275/40's on the same wheels and they do not stick out. The fact that the OEM wheels are 10mm's wider and have very pronounced lip protection makes them stick out like they do. My wheel and tire set up (275/315 Nitto NT05's) will likely not handle as well, but do appear to "fit" better...
