On the street when driving in manual in 2nd or 3rd when I shift into those gears the car surges very noticeably. I will shift and a few seconds later it will surge and drop rpm. It does it in s mode but not as hard. I don't know if this is related to what you are talking about. He said it should lock until 4th.
