The 440ci/375hp had a wider powerband and about the same torque as the 426ci/425hp.
Both made for high 13 second cars at just over 100mph trap speed.
Only when you "tweaked" the Hemi did it outperform the 440. Hot Rod threw on some headers (open), jetted it, adjusted timing, removed aircleaner, and ran low 13's at 109.
Now, that was certainly not stock, but let's pretend it is.
Both the LS1 era Fbodies and the Hemi Chargers weighed about the same.
The LS1 era Fbody was 346ci/305hp-320hp. Mine ran low 13's stock at 108mph.
Mild tweaks had it running 12.5x at 111.x mph.
Anyone STILL believe the HP ratings of the 60's were correct?
