Gas is the cheap part! 120V & 230V is a nice option, but as you probably figured out on 120V you can basically weld light material as AMP draw is limited. It all depends on what you want to do. You're looking at a decent machine and will last a long time, it just really depends on your goals with it.

You won't need to upgrade unless you want to weld structural steel!
