Yes, I use it on my '04 Malibu with 155k miles. Just completed my 20th oil change with Mobil 1... a few times I went 10k-12k miles. Still runs just like the day I bought it new.
But if you want to change it more often.... nothing wrong with that... especially if it sits during winter, etc.
