Rear Diffuser Removal the Easy Way!

Today, in about 15 minutes, I was able to remove the diffuser 'without' taking off the rear bumper and 'without' pulling like a madman!

It was really simple. I removed all the 7mm head bolts, then, pull on the 'side' of the diffuser on each side to remove the first 'slipped' in guide.

Once each side was 'loose', I got under the car, and using this (the non curved end):

Managed my way up to each location (using a light) and pushed the 'top' of the guide down enough so I could pull the diffuser loose:

OUT!:

Diffuser off!:

The middle ones were really pretty easy doing it this way. I did make sure the 'tool' was leveraged against the plastic absorber, but it took very little effort. I spent more time getting the light steady so I could 'see' where I had to wedge the tool and with a 'lever' action, was able to get each guide loose enough to pull the diffuser out.

Seriously, 15 - 20 minutes effort, and I took my time. You do need to go smoothly and carefully, sure beats pulling like hell to get it off (I'm old and don't want to embarrass myself falling on my butt yanking like that -- would look like one of the commercials where folks are pulling on the grocery carts)!

Here is the original diy guide:
