But water gets in through the grille too right?
The hood has rainguards which I removed for the photo.
These rainguards will prevent water from getting into the top of the engine bay.
They are easily removed with about 5 or 6 philips head screws each.

This is the exact reason I chose VIS over Seibon. Seibon doesn't offer the rainguards. Water should not damage your engine but my car is entered into shows and I keep my engine spotless.... so the less water on it the better for show preps.
