Some axle nuts are purposely distorted (oval shaped) so they can't work their way off. If you reuse it too many times it will approach round, and since they can't be staked, create a problem. If I reuse an axle nut on my Silverado, I put Loctite on it. I don't really like reusing them, but when you take CVs out frequently, chasing down axle nuts gets old.
Thank you, will stake them now, my V6 axle nuts weren't but they were smaller.
