I used to play and it was fun. I don't know about best online game ever though

iRacing is pretty good nowadays, however the early days of Papyrus and its NASCAR series were pretty cool, especially the multiplayer when you got other good drivers who knew how to not wreck the field every time.

Another great driving game was Interstate 76.
