Not necessarily. Impala already sells well to families who want a large, FWD sedan for hauling the kids around. Impalas can still be built and can serve as GM's mainstream FWD sedan as well as a fleet car to avoid dumping Malibus into fleet. This new Caprice would be aimed more towards those who want RWD and a sportier ride.
A few other people are suggesting just replacing Impala with Malibu and using the current Impala solely for fleet sales, similar to what Ford does with the Crown Victoria.
