Here is an exerpt from the GM press release concerning the rear seats in the Z28...

"The rear seats of the Z/28 have also been modified for weight reduction. A total of nine pounds (four kilograms) was saved by eliminating the seat-back pass through, as well as using high-density foam in place of the rigid structure of the seat back and steel mesh of the seat bottom."

"Quite a bit of rigidity"...I doubt it. A harness bar could easily be bolted in position for track days and removed quickly for transportation. I have used a hitch and cargo carrier and it proves to be a PITA and hassle. If I get more serious, the car is going on a trailer.
