I can imagine someone thinking to himself: "My gosh, I'd better get this car even though I don't really like it, just so people think I can see and have a beating heart".
In my opinion, very few cars look good as convertibles unless they are designed from the beginning to be convertibles like the Miata or the S2000. The Camaro in particular was designed as a non-covertible coupe with its very high doors and low roofline, it has a sexy consistency. If you simply chop off the roof, you destroy the synergy IMO.
