You can pick up Mothers Clay Kit at any automotive store. It includes a detailing/lubricant spray to use in conjunction with the clay.
First, wash the car. Then, to use the clay, spray a section, (I do about a 4" X 4" area) well with the lubricant while moving the clay across the surface with minimal pressure. You will see the clay change color as it picks up and removes contaminants. Continue claying until you're happy with the results.
I always wash again after claying. Then, I finish by adding a coat of wax/polish.
