I think it should be what the 16 year old can afford. I can't tell you how many things I see people trash cause they don't have to pay for it, so there is a lack of care.
If a parent is truly willing to make that purchase today, buy the 4 cyl and pray. Between airmen, college kids, my own kids and my friends children I speak from experience. One son bought his truck cares for it deeply. My other son that got my bad weather car and could care less.
