I think if you plan on doing minor mods...cai, exhaust etc. A store bought tuner will suffice. I own a diablo and it does everything I need. Yes.. you input what you want and there are several videos that show you how easy it really is. However, if you do major mods especially with internal engine I understand you will need to get someone with much more detailed mods. Aslo, with your own tuner (ex. diablo) you may not be "as dialed in" as a professional modder can do but I'm okay with my setup. Bottom line is the deeper you get into mods I would eventually get a professional mod. As far as exhaust, I have hi flow, x pipe, cat back, and will get shorty headers. I do not need to get a pro mod. If you go long tubes it may be different.
