Agreed, and there simply aren't enough hardcore track guys to buy 2000 a year. Hardcore track guys with $60k to burn, are going to snatch up a used Z06, or a brand new C7.

I don't know how much it costs to build a new Z-28, I doubt anybody will ever get that information. I just look at the price point of the Z-28 and what you can get within the GM family for similar money. Comparing it to a ZL-1, the ZL-1 has more power, 1000x more creature comforts, better street manners, and very similar on-track performance for $10k+ less money. Comparing it to a new C7 with the handling package and it's game over for the Z-28. The 'Vette will beat it in nearly every performance category, be more civil on the street, get better mileage, and do it for $10k less as well.
I love the new Z-28, I just think it's suicide where they priced it. The Z-28 has
ALWAYS been a working mans Corvette, priced for the middle class blue collar guy. Now it's way out of that range. I've owned 6 Z-28's through the years, I doubt I'll be able to afford a new one again.
