Z/36 is a reference to its metric engine displacement.

A turbo or two, in the current version, would have you back up to 1SS Curb Weight, essentially...with equivalent LS3 power in OEM tune (425 hp ala "Leno")...not a lighter-on-its-feet result.

I think a turbo'd V6 in the Gen-6 is a distinct possibility. Lighter car, better result.

Some background:

In 1992, two friends and I took an off-the-showroom-floor '92 Pontiac Grand Prix GT (Twin Cam 3.4, AT, no GTP cladding-doodads-weight), installed GTP 16 X 8" wheels with 4-P255/50ZR16 Potenzas, dialed in all the negative camber we could, added Hawk pads, and struck out for the '92 One Lap of America. 4416 miles later, we finished 2nd in Class, 19th Overall, against a very eclectic field of fast cars...in a dealership DEMO.

Don't underestimate the capabilities of W-cars with 3.4s, at least when new "back in the day"...

That result cemented a relationship with Pontiac Racing that lasted for a dozen years...
