I talked to a few people who have been following this issue for a couple of years. Basically their theory is that it was a valve train alignment issue that cause the valve to rock in the valve guide. Some tuners where beginning to collect mounting evidence on this. But they were slammed on the internet by conspiracy theorists and dropped the issue.
