OG member back after 12 years with a new car with problems

Hey guys... "I'm Baaacccckkkk!" Picked up a '10 SS on Saturday with a problem that has me stumped. A quick search didn't find any help so, you guys are the best to help with this.

Car has 100K and, other than this issue, seems to run fine. When cruising around in traffic, at low RPM, I'm getting a flutter in the engine at neutral throttle. Add a little pedal and it goes away. Almost seems like it's dropping one or two cylinders but, no error codes.

I'm thinking low RPM... low oil pressure... cam phasers are rattling around. Or I guess it could be an ignition glitch. No tune that I'm aware of. Previous owner was an old woman (still younger than me) that took pretty good care of it. A/C makes no diff but it seems a bit worse in manual shift when I try to make it happen.

I guess it could be a broken inner valve spring (God I hope not!) But, I don't seem to get any valve float at high RPM.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Terry

OK so, I got it figured out! YAY! It turned out to be a couple of different things. First off, I found two bad plug wires that were shorting out... occasionally. But the main issue involved the tune on the car. Since the car runs so strong with really hard shifts, I figured it was tuned at some point (I am the 5th owner) but it never dropped smoothly into 6 cyl mode. It would only flutter the engine. Best guess is the tune of the transmission tweaked the torque management system and that screwed up the transition tables somehow. I had a hunch using an AFM module might bypass the problem so I picked up a cheap one on Amazon. Plugged it in and that fixed the problem for now. I'll likely grab another Diablosport Trinity (had one on the LT) for it when I get ready to tune for the mods I have planned. What a PIMA!

I got my wheels and tires mostly on but, I need to remove the 20mm spacers and redo the studs on the front yet. After that I'll put the center caps on... another PIA! Here's a photo from today's successful drive.

Yes, Vision 55 Rally's I'm not going to use the classic center cap though. It would stick out too far. I have a low profile cap to try and, if I don't like them, I'll probably end up with "Baby Moons".

Awesome brother! Glad you got that figured out! And on the AFM, when it kicks in it doesn't go into 6 cylinder mode, it goes into 4 cylinder mode. There are 4 AFM lifters in the engine, that's why it sounds like crap when it does. lol. Sounds like bee's farting in a can, couldn't wait to get rid of mine, we tuned it out at 19k miles, then deleted it at 98k miles when we did the cam swap.. Enjoy that new ride!

I thought it switched those 2 at a time to limit the wear.

Ol, I looked it up, so 4 cylinders when active. Still, mine wasn't working and it's kinda fixed now. I was looking at the delete kits though already. I might turn this one over before I get to that point. This was always going to be a flip..
