700 RWHP, Tire for handling and straight line traction Need some help.
Hi All,
I have done a ton of research but I need some help choosing, I'll add a link to Tire Rack with some tires I am thinking about. My Car should be over 650 RWHP once done and the I will need to replace the current Good Year F1 tires I currently have ( Which I happen to really like for handling once warm but I am not sure they can handle the higher HP Plus they are not made anymore ). We can leave price out and focus and capability of the tire. I am not looking to drag race but would like it to hook once rolling. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireS...erformance=ALL 285-35/305-35-20 Thanks

I have no experience with the Toyo R888R. Theyre supposed to work great for straight line grip. They were a road race tire so lateral grip will be up there. Everything i read about them theyre super noisy but perfrom good.
I run a Michelin Pilot 4S in the front and Nitto NT555RII in the rear. The nitto is as quiet as and comfortable as the 4S that used to be on the rear. It spins at little in 2nd when boost comes in. Its a manageable spin. 3rd gear has never been an issue from 60mph. The 4S was a phenomenal tire at 513whp, 285s on all corners. Not sure how it would handle another 100-150whp as i went from that 500 directly to 800..... but it was awesome at 500. Could do a 40 roll in 1st gear and it would take that hit and not spin. If you want a drag/road tire youre looking at the Toyo R888R, Nitto NT555RII or the Mickey Street ET Street SS. Dedicated drag tire Nitto NT05R, Mickey Thompson ET Street R or Toyo RR

I have the 555r2 and they are great. Don’t matter what tire you use if you want them to spin they will. Specially a stick car. Even in my auto i can spin them in lower gears.

Nitto NT555RII handle curves decent? The Toyos I hear are loud and not sure I want that. I would like to find a tire that somewhat matches front to rear. I was thinking of trying the 4S on all four corners and go from there.
MT Street ET SS handle curves well? I worry about soft sidewalls on some of these. Mileage is not much of a concern as I probably do less than 1K a season. tartagliazl1 you run them on all four corners?

The Michelins will be good I think at the 305 or even 315 in the rear but under 50% tread life is where it will get hairy. The 4S in the rear handled 800whp for a little. About 25% tire left, it blew the tires off merging onto the interstate..... HUD read 90mph.... sideways pointed into a metal guard rail..... thats what made me switch.

I run Toyo R888R all around on the street. 285/35/20 front, 305/35/20 rear.
They're great tires. Grippy. Can't floor it in 1st or 2nd at my power level, but you can roll into it. I personally highly recommend them. Only downside is they can be somewhat noisy tires if you own a quiet car. But that's not the case for me. When I drag race I have a Mickey ET Street R 305/45/18 in the rear. Grips like a special-ed kid holding the class pet.

Jeff are the Toyo smooth riding? Do you hear them over your exhaust?

I was thinking of running the toyo on the rear, and possibly something else on the front just for Noise reasons, Would the Pilot Sports be a good match as far as a front tire? I would like to have tires that handle curves similar. All of these are just ideas at the moment.
