NJ and IL folks may pay a little more. Surcharges?

Hey,

I was just going though the autobook price listing, and I noticed something a little strange. Under one of the option pages, it gives option codes to the following...

R6M - New Jersey Cost Surcharge *Required on all vehicles to be registered in New Jersey* *Price to follow*

R8Q - Illinois Cost Surcharge - $300.00

Now I don't know what this really means. If IL has a price, I'm sure that the NJ one will too soon. Just something these two places may want to plan for.

If so, this will be the first time I've ever seen it on a car in NJ.

These codes seem to be for all cars in those states.
$88 for NJ
$300 for IL

Gotta love Dirty Jersey
I'm sure it will go to a worthwhile cause, like building a bigger governor's mansion or some more useless highway "soundproofing" projects. All of the tolls were just raised as well, when is it enough? This state loves to nickel & dime its residents to death. Thank goodness I've only got three more months till I'm out

I've never noticed it before. Well, $88 is better than $300 at least...

I rarely,if ever, drive on any toll roads luckily so that change didn't affect me. The Gov's desire to furlough state workers 2 days this year (and possibly 12 next year) will have a bit of an impact though...

If you live in IL, I'm sure they will get the $300 when you register it. When I lived in the Denver area, dealers would tell folks that live in another county, since they considered the car delivered the dealer didn't collect the sales tax for county it was in; implying the people were getting out of the tax. When they went to register it, they had to come up with their county's sales tax. The Man always get their cut.

I love the city and hate the State. Guess I will force feed myself this stupid ass IL fee. Luckily for IL, my anger shall pass once I'm in my Camaro.
