i'm sorry i posted in the wrong subforum.

so my brother just told me, after i finish my study in the US, he was planning to bring the car back to my home country (Indonesia, somewhere in southeast asia) because it seems a bit wasted to sell the car.. and i got couple of question.

1. The car is registered in the us, can i just ship it right away to my hometown, is there a law for shipping a car that made in the us to ship it outside of the country? i hope u guys get it.

2. What about the tax, insurance and other things like goverment issues?

idk what else. hmmmmm.

i cant imagine that too, but on the weekend i can go crazy.. lol jk, i'll be the 2nd person who own the camaro. :( the first one is some local actor just got his 1LT couple months ago. but bone stock. mine will scream the hell out of his car.

Hey Ken, I'm not an expert on this but there is a couple of things you have to do to take your car back. You have to clear both country customs and there might a vehicle tax that you have to pay for your car. In Vietnam where I'm from you have to pay a 200% tax base on vehicle price to get it into the country.

"it's against the Indonesian law to import any used car unless you are a diplomat connected with an Embassy or a recognized Aid Group"

well my grandfather from my mom side used to be a diplomat back in (idk maybe) 70s or 80s. that's what it says right and the fact can be different. as long as u have the connection to 'the people' and the money. the law are meant to be broken. lol

First: Check if your government/customs would allow you to import a car in to the country that is 2 years old and has been driven (miles on it.)

Second: If yes to the first. Contact shipping agents, and they will do all the paper work needed for you (You need to have the title with you!). They will send a truck to pick it up and load it on the ship. Two shipping choices you have: RoRo (Roll on Roll off), or container.

Some world famous companies (They should have an agent in your area) google it:

Maersk line, NYK , Hoegh .........many others.
