SS/rs difference?
Hello, can someone please tell me if rs/SS came from factory with all or only some options?I have found a 2012 that says SS/rs but with no centre console gauges,is it a genuine rs?I see most state rs package,is this done after it leaves the factory?

I'm pretty sure the RS package came with the 4 pack auxiliary gauges in the center....I could be wrong....

The 4 pack gauges are part of the 2SS (or 2LT) trim. RS has nothing to do with the 4 pack gauges, RS is an exterior appearance package.

You must buy a 2LT (if V6) or 2SS (if V8) to get the center console gauges. RS is a bunch of exterior pretty up items like HID projector headlights, color matched junk, and some wheels.

It was probably a 1SS/RS
IMO whether you go LT or SS, an RS package is a must for the HIDs alone

Bleh, I would just about avoid buying a Camaro based on it having the RS package alone. But, different strokes for different folks.

i have a 1ss/rs.
I just added the gauges. From a quick glance, the only way to tell it from a 2ss is the leather seats.

Color matched junk pieces you also have on your car just in black. Wheels are important in order to drive. |

![]() I like HID's, just not crazy about the black housing on the Camaros. I'm indifferent about the color matched parts. Did not want the factory 20's combo because I can't rotate them normally. But for those who like RS package, more power to them

By the way you spelled centre, I assume you are native Kiwi. You on north or south island? I visited in '99 to and from Antarctica. Loved it in Christchurch. Had a great time.

V6's don't need low-profile, staggered 20's...someone had to say it!!

Neither does an SS. You can get 18's or 19's them. 20's look better on every model of the car, not just the SS. They're better for the Brembo's, but you don't have to have them. I've seen members around here put 18's on for snow tires.

My fix....ordered a non-RS, added aftermarket HID projectors in my Halogen housing, replaced my front wheels with a pair of rear wheels so I could rotate. I think my HIDs came out awesome but most people seem to look down on me just because I purposely did not buy the RS package. I also get shuned for getting 1 3/4" headers most of the time as well. To each their own....
