So, here is a good story for all of you. From what I have found, this is not that uncommon:
Back in November, I purchased an Outback for my wife. When I did, I used my ZL's registration as a form of identity proof. A few days ago, my wife was pulled over and was told that her registration did not match the plates on her car. Confused, she asked what that meant. He said the plates on her car were still registered to the car dealership that we bought the car from. Thankfully the police officer was cool and didn't write her tickets or impound the car. So, after doing some research, it seems that the dealership, unbeknownst to us, transferred the plates on my ZL to her car which left my car unregistered. ![]() So since March I have been driving a car with no registration. It's a good thing I obey all posted speed limits! Anyway, I went to the dealer on Saturday and signed some forms so they are now transferring the plates that were originally installed on the Outback to the Camaro. The plates that were on the Camaro are now on the Outback so at least one car now is legal. Well that's my stupid dealership story. Anyone else? |

When I was looking for my cadillac I went to a local dealership to look for one. I fould the one I liked an wanted to make an offer. The salesman looked at me. My DC hat and shoes and the fact that I was 20 yrs old and told me I wouldnt be no where near the asking price nor would I be even comfortable making tge high monthly payments. He showed me a older malibu and said he would work out a special deal for me on that one. Little did he know I had 10k cash on hand as well as being pre approved for a 45k car loan at 3% so I politely told him to go f himself. As I was walking out his manager came out and asked me why I was upset. I explained that his people were stereotyping and I didnt want to do business with em. I also told him I was ready to buy with a 10k down payment. He was furious and tried to get me back inside. I juts left went across the street and bought a car there. I hate people like that.

Wow, what an ass that salesman was. That happens all the time. Once, I had a customer walk in to speak to me about doing audio and home automation in his home. He looked like a bum, long unwashed hair, flowered shirt, wrinkled cargo shorts, etc. I was polite and spoke with him as you just never know. It was a good thing - he opened up his blueprints and it showed a 10,000 square foot home that he was building! Needless to say we got the job.

Why wouldn't you just use a Driver's License as a form of identity proof?
They had to make a photocopy of your ZL's registration to include with their paperwork, which makes it extremely easy for someone who's used to seeing Driver's Licenses all day as identity proof to become confused and assume the ZL's registration paperwork was some form of trade in.

I wanted to upgrade my Camaro to one with a factory sunroof. Went to the dealer, and asked what model I needed to order, and he said he didn't know. He went to his boss and he didn't know either, and said maybe I should do some research so that I could find out. What? Me do the research? Who is the salesman, and who is getting the commission? I decided to save myself a lot of many, and have another dealer install a Webasto sunroof hat retracts inside the top. Saved thousand on the purchase, and have a great sunroof. The dealership has since been bought out by Autonation.
(Similar thing happened when I went to buy a Harley. Didn't have a sportster in stock. I asked him to call me when he did, and he said he was too busy, and I should just call him every few days to find out. I bought a Vulcan the next day.) |

Mine did the same thing on my Solstice trade-in. They would use the owners of the trade-ins to provide interest free floor planning on their used car inventory. I had to get GM involved to get it paid off. Took 30 days, during which my lender was bugging me for payment on the car the dealer took in trade-in.

No wonder dealerships get such a bad rep most of the time!

When we traded our 2005 Grand Cherokee in on the Camaro, the dealership did not transfer the registration very promptly.
And either they parked it where they shouldn't have, or the new owners did. We got a parking ticket in the mail. Had to photocopy and fax our transfer to the police department so they can route the parking ticket to the right people.
