forging a stock cube block
Guys, question here and please forgive me. What would a typical forging cost?
I'm thinking pistons, wrist pins, rods, bearings, but with a stock crank. What would this run me?

My parts were $1100 (wiseco pistons and callies rods) and machine work/assembly was $1900 which included degreeing the cam, checking PTV and putting on heads. Add another $120 for melling pump, $50 (got it used from katech) c5r chain, $50 for used pushrods, $100 for gaskets, bearings were ~200, $200 for used ARP studs and the total is $3520 or thereabouts. I saved money buying some things used and by removing the engine and taking it to the place and then reinstalling it myself. Im going from memory but thats the ballpark.

My total build for the short block is coming out to be right around $4700.
This includes... *stock block *stock crank *wiseco 4.07bore -11cc pistons *callie compstar I-beam rods (capable of 1500hp) *ARP studs all around *clevite coated bearings *all machine work *balancing *and full assembly. Give or take a little bit. If i do the assemblly myself, then i save about $500-600 there. now remember thats the cost for just the short block. I plan on using a stock heads and cam for a little to see what type of power they can hold. But then you have the added fuel system for whatever power level you want, etc.... it adds up quick.
